Due to bad weather, commuters in New York City are advised to expect possible interruptions this afternoon and evening.
On Friday, August 9, there is a travel advisory in effect. As the leftovers of Hurricane Debby make their way up the East Coast, the NYC Emergency Management Department has activated its flash flood emergency plan and put city response agencies and staff on alert.
With gusts of up to 45 miles per hour, the city is under a wind advisory until 11 p.m. on Friday; but, according to the National Weather Service, New York City will escape the worst of the weather.
According to FlightAware, as of 2:30 p.m., the airports at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, and Newark had reported inbound and outgoing delays, along with approximately 10% of flights being canceled.
