Former N.Y. Republican Rep. Susan Molinari backs Harris for president

A new coalition called “Republicans for Harris” includes Molinari.

It’s an attempt to connect with disgruntled Republicans who, like her, may not support every Democratic policy position but see former President Donald Trump as a destabilizing threat.

Guy, the father of Molinari, was a congressman before becoming the president of the borough of Staten Island. Molinari contends that her announcement should be seen as “both” an endorsement of Harris and an endorsement of Trump.

The former congresswoman defected from her party in 2020 and endorsed Joe Biden.
