The responsible fires originate in Western Ontario and spread to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories in Central and Western Canada.
The tri-state area is seeing the smoke because of a steady northwest wind that has carried the haze our way.
Between a low spinning close to the Canadian Maritime Provinces and a high-pressure ridge in the Central United States, the wind has channeled.
For the next few days, and maybe even into next week, low concentrations of smoke will keep coming into and going out of our area.
